Steinbach Week 13: Day 2: Oct 1: Photo Scavenger Hunt

Slept in till 9am, the had left over rice and veggie stew for breakfast. We don't have  microwave, so I had to warm it up on the stove top. I went on the computer around 11am, then we ate the brunch that Hilary made: eggs, baccon, and potato slices, plus some garnola that Talia made.

Then we partnered up to do a team picture scavenger hunt by bike. I was paired with Gordon, and we did a pretty good job. We met the Mayor too!!!! He was at Main Breadt and Butter that day, so that really helped us out. When biked all over, and I kept getting freaked out when we had to ride on busy streets. We didn't think we would win at all. Once we were back at the house, we had to get all the pics off the camera and into a slideshow. Then we all hung around while we waited for Cindy and Talia to get back. Eventually they called, and we found out that a pedal on Cindy's bike had fallen off, so they were walking home.

I ate a wrap with organic PB, cream honey and raisins. Then I played some checkers with Michelle and played chess with Gordon, who powned me.....again......Then we fired up youtube. XD

When the girls finally got back, we went over our pics and truns out that Gordon and I did win, by a long shot! As a prize, we each got a mango (not ripe yet) and a big 2 liter health drink to share. And it was so GOOD!!!!!!!!! It wasn't chalked or gross at all!!!!!! Yeah for high quality! >//<

Then we worked on group contracts, and they were actually "contracts" and we had tons more than in Chisasibi.

Dinner was Shepherds pie, like the one Jaine made during billeting in Chisasibi, and Cindy shared her radish with everyone. It was pretty good.

Talked with Justin for a bit. He said he wanted to leave next week, and I was like Oh Nose!!!!!!!!! O.o
Then we all piled in the van and headed to Winnipeg for Nuit Blanche, which is an arts festival type thing. It was okay.....except for the fact that I ended up taking Catherine and Gordon on a wild goose chase through the city for the 2 hrs trying to find the other sites that were hosting events. It's a good thing we had a map!!!!! Eventually we found a site that had a band playing, and we had been texting Hilary and stuff and she told us to catch the complimentary shuttle to get back in time.

After catching the shuttle and hooking back up with our group, we went over to the St. Bonifacte (sp?) house and I met half the group. Then we drove home.

Steinbach Week 13: Day 1: Sept 30: Library, Work Partners, YOUTUBE!!!!!, and childishness

Woke up at 7:30am, ate raisin bran with yogurt, then Michelle and I did some yoga/streching. XD

Next, everyone piled into the van, and we went to the library for a tour, unfortunately, due to renovations and stuff, they weren't taking a volunteer. The library was also having a "Catch Your Family Reading" Contest, where you submit a picture of someone reading and you could win one of 3 flip video cameras. The contest was for Family Week. (Steinbach has spmething like the highest average of books read per year per person.)

Then we did some work partner tours! We saw Rest Haeven - a retirment home, Anna's House - a resource center for pergnant women and young moms, 55+ - where Meals on Wheels operated, and the Meninnite Heritage Museaum.

Unfortunately, it was the last day the outside portion of the museaum was going to be open. After we finished our formal tour, though, Hilary let us have 20min until 12pm to run around and look at ever thing.  IT WAS SO COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They actually had quite a lot of land, and they have this AWESOME fully-functional wooden windmill!!! (A remade version, as the original brunt down, but they bulit the new one using only wooden pegs and stuff!!!!!! O.o) They had a resturant that sold German/Ukraine food, and a General Store, where I bought some candy sticks and of flour made at the windmill!!!!! I'm going to freeze it so I can take it home to Dad! >//< I also bought some stuff for Michelle, who paid me back when we got home, and I contributed one dollar to Gordon when he bought some porogies, so I could have one. It was very tasty.

Then we went home for lunch, which was salade with hemp seeds, veggie soup, and we even had STORE BOUGHT CRACKERS!!!!!!!!!!!! O.o............wierd. Brandon gave me a watermelon flavored rockcandy. It was very sweet!

Then Mitch, a former Katima-victim, came over and gave us a bike workshop. We all cliamed bikes (mine was a nice red retro one without air breaks XP) and checked them to make sure they were safe to ride, then took 'em for a test drive. I'll need some more partice, seeing as I haven't used a bike in 6yrs, but I'll be okay.

Then I went on the computer for a bit and OMGZ!!!!!!!!!!! WE HAVE FLASH PLAYER!!!!!!! And that means YOUTUBE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD I went nuts! After a while though, I switched with Catherine and I went to cut some veggies for dinner. After that, half the group took off with Hilary to run some errands, so I grabbed a map of Steinbach and took the oppurtunity to go look for the church I wanted to attened on Sunday. I took my player, and ate a peppermint candy stick on the way. It only took me 20mins to walk to the church, and it was right next door to SAC!!

Then I headed home, and at one point saw Vince leaving for a walk of his own! XD THen I could see setting in the park directly ahead, and started running towards it for no particular reason. It was a bit awckard to run though with my pockets weighted down.

So I hung around in the park for a bit. Sang a little here, danced a little there, spun around in circles, laid down in the grass......generally acted like a kid. That park really reminds of the park that was by my house when my family lived on 19C Camerone Cres though. .......What with the hill.....^_^

After that I went home and played in the sand box.
Yes, we have a sand box.

Dinner was fired rice and a salade made out of beats and feta. The Porject Support Leader(PSL) and PL (from St Pierre-Joilly) came over and highjacked Papa Hil.

I played Twister with Catherine, Gordon and Justin for around an hour. Then I went to have some of Michelle's hot chocolate, but turns out it was actually Oveltine.  Ate some bread and butter (no margarine.....) and some home-stlye rashpberry jam from Main Bread and Butter.

Then I helped Talia do her strach and wins.......I don't think any of them one........*shrugs*

Week Tweleve: Day 7 : Sept 29 : More Group Travel!! Arrival in Steinbach, and work tours.

My alarm went off at 5:30am. Michelle and I relucatntly got up and packed our bags. Then we went to the lobby, grabbed the curtousy breakfeast (I had a blueberry muffin, a cinnamon pastry, a bagel with cream cheese and some appel juice.), and then checked out. Michelle and I caught the 6am shuttle with Catherine and Cindy. the others were all going to get there stuff together and checkout, 'cause they'd been out all night visiting Cindy's family.

When we got the airport, we got our tickets, and I paid $22 to check a second bag. We even ran into the group that was headed to Chisasibi and had just come from Steinbach!!!! Two of the girls in that group were from the Queen Charollet islands!!! Which I thought was just so funny, 'cause I had recently finished "The Golden Spruce", and now I wanna go there!!!!!!!!!! >.<

Then we headed over to security, and I forgot to empty my water bottel!!!! Luckily the gruad/attenand person let me chug it. -.- Blauh! After that though, I set off the metal detector, so they had me go in the swirly x-ray machein thingy.....and I can't figure out for the life of me what set it off!!!! o.O

On the 1st flight, I sat next to Catherine, in an Isle seat by the emergancy exit. It was really sad thoguh, because it was only 2minutes before we started our decent when she and I reliezed we could watch movies!!!!! o.O We really wanted to watch Cars 2.

We had and hour and a half lay-over in Toronto. They have a very nice airport! I ate a blueberry scone from starbucks, and I was super lucky that it was under $3 because that was all the cash I had left! AND my debit card wasn't working!!!! It hadn't worked in Montreal, so I had to pay the $20 extra-bag fee with cash! >.<

Our flight to Winnipeg got slightly delayed, but it was fun sitting around in the airport. We must've looked like a pretty interesting group!!! XD

Once we got on the plan, there was an issue with a family of four wanting to sit together, and then a couple who had those seats still wanting to sit together, as a result, I ended up moving. I still had a window seat though. So no big deal. *shurgs* I got to watch Cars 2 and OMGZZ!!!!! >.< It was so EPIC!!!! XD

Then we were in Winnipeg! Alice the PC was there to pick us up with one of her friends. Us girls were really mean though, 'cause we all introduced ourselves with the wrong names......>.< I went by Michelle. But we all pilled in the van and headed for Steinbach, which was roughly an 1-2hrs drive.

When we got the house, the 1st thing I did was claim a bed, and I got a bottom bunk!!!!! XD YES!!!!! No more jumping up and down!!! Not that I would've needed to, 'Cause both beds had things next to them you could climb on, but it was nice all the same. Then we had lunch, which was like a wrap-thing. Mine had cucumber and tomato and lettuce and 3 kinds of delie meat! XD. I even had a little bit of mustard. Then there was CAKE and garnola!!!!!!! >//<

Then I changed into the new shrit I bought at Northeren for the work tours, which made no differance 'cause I wore a sweater. 1st we visited El'Dad Ranch, where the treated us to cookies and juice. There were some dogs there too, even COWS!!!!! O.o Then we went to SAC - the Steinbach Arts Council, which is basically a rec center, but for the arts instead of sports. They have two possision there. One for the per-school and one for the office.

XD I snagged TONS of borchures. LOL

Then we got home. I unpacked my stuff, changed the sheets on my bed, grabbed another sweater and some "play" glasses from the over group's "leave behind" box. Then I started some laundry. Then I went to the park out back and had some alone-time. And yes, there was singing involved. ;)

Dinner was  4 cheese vegitarina lasuanga with salade and garlic bread. There was also some super wicked tea the Hilary, our new PL , made. I claimed a new cup! I checked the comp really quick, and then we had a meeting to discuss our 72hrs off that we'd be having over Thankgiving weekend. I might miss out on the big meal after all. T.T After that I had a shower.

AND NOW I CAN START ATTENDING CHURCH AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD

Chisasibi Week Tweleve: Day 6: Sept 28: Locked down! Saying Good-bye, and the Complications of Group Travel!

I woke up at 7:30am, and was gonna go back to sleep, but when checked my phone for the time, it said it was "locked"!!!! And today we are travelling!!!!! O.o Oh boy! So I spent an hour starting to write out all the possible 4 digit codes and entering them into my phone. T.t I ate some bread with cream cheese and the last of the fruit salade with yogurt and vector, then went on comp for a bit, and weighed all my bags again. Then I went at the phone problem for another hour. So much number crunching!!!!! o.O

Brunch was French toast, baccon, melon, and grapes. Then I cleaned the girl's bathroom, helped bring in the food donations from the night before, and started loading the van with luggage. I went with the 1st load of bags to the airport, to watch 'em and stuff. I checked my bags right away, but then we had some complications with how'd they'd get transferred to our other plane. We worked it out though. Chris came with the rest of the group, and we tried to have Hippy Time, but ended up having to leave for our plan. (Dran CGT!!!! Because it got postponed our schedule got all messed up T.t) I did get to hear what Chris wanted to say to me though, and he gave me the chocolate to split between the group later.

As we left the run way, I looked back at the airport, and I could see a bunch of people lined up by the fence watching the plane take off. It was all our friends (I know 'cause of Chris' bright red shirt.) THere was Chris, Jack and Elizabeth, Julia and Melony, and I think Colette was there too. Safe to say Michelle cried when I pointed it out to her.

Unfortunately, our trip was not ll that smooth, I mean, as far as being up in the air, we were fine, but there were some major delays when we got into VAl d'or. (Air Creebec did at least feed us lunch though.) Catherine called the travel service line for Katimavik, and we told them we were more than likely going to miss our Montreal Flight to Winnipeg. They said to call them back as soon as we could, but that wouldn't be till we landed in Montreal. As we were landing, there was some confusion the group as to whether or not we wanted the flight attendant to try and get us off the plane 1st. I told her not to bother, but we decided to try to get to our gate anyway. We made it, only to find out that the Winnipeg flight had been delayed by an hour!!!!!! We totally could've made it! But, as fate would have it, Katimavik had already gone ahead and cancelled our tickets and couldn't re-instate them.

We all went to the baggage claim, and grabbed our stuff. We met Vincent's parents, and waited for the shuttle to take us to the same in I had stayed in the 1st night with Talia.I waited for the second shuttle, because we couldn't all fit in one.

Catherine made a LOT of phone calls for us that night. There was some "tension", okay, well lots of tension, in the group.

When we got to the hotel, I had a room with Michelle. After we set our stuff in order, she went off with Justin to see about the mourning shuttle and calling her parents. I sat down and started journalling, then Catherine came in and turned on the TV.  ( She didn't want to be alone in her room.) She and I proceeded to have a very emotional heart-to-heart about the whole day, and how stressful it had been, especially for her, because she had made all the phone calls and stuff for us. She even called me a Psychologist at one point! XD

After a while, Michelle and Justin came back, then we all trucked over to the vending machine to get some sustenance! I got sun chips and a raisin oatmeal cookie! XD

I think travelling in a group of 10 is a bit hectic. Maybe 2-4 would be good, but such a big group is a bit......challenging I guess.

OH YEAH!!!!!! I got my phone unlocked while we were flying out of Val d'or on Air Creebec. The number was 2412, which was the last 4 digits of my phone number. Chris had tried to give them to me earlier, 'cause we had the suspicion that might be the default, but he gave me the wrong number. *shrugs* Either way! I got my phone unlocked, and then reset it, so it wasn't locked any more.  And yes, I did write out all the codes up to 2412 by hand.........I guess it's pretty reasonable that the others called me crazy! XP

Chisasibi Week Tweleve: Day 5: Sept 27: Chisasibi's Got Talent!!

UP at 8:30am. Ate taco meat, bell peppers and cheese. We started taking stuff down off the walls, and washing them. Chris was a little miffed that we weren't reading the instructions on the cleaning supplies.....Ooops.

For lunch we had butter tarmagine and couscous. I went on the comp for a bit, then around 2:45pm, I went over to the school, which had finally re-opened. I tried to find Janie and talk about the leather, but she was in a meeting. Naydine wasn't in the Library either, so I still have her spare keys...When I got back to the house, Jack and Elizabeth were there with their kids. After they left, we started plating food up for tonight for our healthy canteen.

Dinner was bread with PB and honey and fruit salade. Then Chris went off to pick up the GRAND CHIEF OF JAMES BAY!!!!!!!! He was at LG1 and was willing to judge for us, he just needed to be picked up! Unfortunately, that left us in a bit of a lurch, with no one to take us to set up the space, Luckily Colette stopped by (she had some of our food I think) and she graciously drove Gordon, Talia, and I to the Mitchwap Centre. We were able to set up chairs, and the sound guys where there, but we hadn't really been prepared to start registering people, but they started showing up, so we did.

Finally! The rest of the group showed up, and we got all the food and everything else set up! After that, we still had to wait like 20min for CHISASIBI'S GOT TALENT to start. I was a runner near the beginning, literally!!! I was running to get more chairs!!! It was SO packed, we even had people who crowded in the back and stood the whole time! I was a little stressed out the near the beginning, but we had such a good turn out, and everything went so well, that I couldn't help but rock out with everyone else!!!! And omgz!!!! CHISASIBI HAS GOT TALENT!!!!!!!!!! woot woot!!! XD My fav act was probably when one of the girls from Gordon's billet family and her friend went up and danced to "Its a hard knock life" from Annie!!! XD

After the we sang our song and gave out the prizes, man you should've seen the rush for the door when we said it was over! *rolls eyes* We did some clean up...well.....I didn't help as much as I probably should have......The Northern lights were out when we headed home. Had a shower!
